"Tapestry of Praise" hired me to paint a Messianic themed background for their Passover Celebration. They wanted the Beautiful Gate that represents the gate the returning Messiah will enter Jerusalem through. The rest they gave me liberty to add Jewish symbols. I chose to work in predominantly golden and blue hues throughout the banner symbolizing the Glory of G-d and the Supernatural heavenly realm. It is an open door into a spiritual dimension to honor this special holiday for the Jewish people.
The blue and gold hues chosen by the Artist suggest the supernatural heavenly realm and the glory of God who inhabits it. The return of the Messiah boldly bursts forth at the Beautiful Gate of Jerusalem, the place where in deeply held tradition, the Messiah will return for His people. Hebrew symbols throughout the work communicate the message of the Torah. This work was commissioned by Tapestry of Praise, and the work expresses the open door, through a spiritual dimension, into Heaven. This is used by Tapestry as a backdrop for celebrations at special Jewish holidays.
It had been years since I visited Italy, and I wanted to be reminded of my memorable trip to Capri. I decided to create a mural in my own bedroom so that I could re-experience my visit as I looked out my "window". Building off of photographs from my trip and my recollections of the time I studied in Italy, I incorporated a peaceful and inviting scene into my own bedroom. In addition, as a result of some extra research, I even made sure to paint an Italian butterfly pearched on my window sill.
The Kohl family wanted a nautical theme for their son's nursery room, but wanted it painted in such a way that the toddler and young child could grow into it. The largest sailboat sports the name "Grace" for this young Christian couple and is painted close to the area they wanted the crib so the baby could view it. There are also seagulls and wisps of clouds hovering over the young child.
A small dock is painted for a toddler's perspective rather than for an adult to invite the youngster into the painting. There is also a small bucket and shovel ready to be played with in the sand.
Los Primeros PTA hired my daughter and I to paint their logo on the front of the Building along with the new signage for the school. The school is located at 1555 Kendall in Camarillo,CA. The jaguar and paw prints are approximately 15' x 6' and done with Acrylics. This project was originally intended for the bldg on Ventura Blvd. and had to be redesigned. The PTA is a very dedicated group of parents!!
The Pt. Hueneme Navy base wanted a playful and fun mural for their recreation room yet something symbolic of the Navy. This is where I learned that there are two separate divisions of the Navy: a construction batallion, the Sea Bees, and the ship division.
The school was badly in need of a remodel. I decided to work with one of the talented art students there and she designed an Asian theme with a huge koi fish as the focal point. The golden color was selected to refresh the students during their lunch break. The koi was created out of mosaics and glass marbles and then swirls of blue color create the movement in the water.
